1. Вступление перед титрами. Анимированная карта Африки. Пока камера опускается по спирали, пролетая дюны Сахары и джунгли Конго, низкий, жуткий голос Скоби объясняет, что Чёрный Континент состоит из многих царств, не только пустынь и джунглей, но и обширных велдов, которыми правил царь зверей. Здесь (мы видим Калахари глазами Скоби, кружащего грифа) царь-лев издаёт законы, которым должны подчиняться все прочие звери. Пока Скоби перечисляет законы, они наглядно показываются происходящим внизу: (1) будь внимателен — глу поднимает голову, принюхивается, поднимает тревогу и начинает убегать; (2) будь быстр — один гну отстаёт от стада, и прайд львов настигает его; с высоты полёта Скоби мы можем насладиться зрелищем львов ??? и хотя мы не видим момента убийства, (его???) непосредственный момент, а царь Бронд стоит над туманом, (наблюдая???); и (3) будь терпелив: Скоби опускается на ветвь высохшего дерева и ждёт, пока львы наедятся.

Акт I: Наследник

2. Львы также должны соблюдать третий закон, названный Скоби, ведь трапезы проходят по строгому порядку — что только злит молодого самца Мруки, рыкающего от нетерпения, пока Бронд наслаждается лучшими кусками добычи. Лисаба, старая ???-мать, надменно отчитывает его: «Даже я, ???-мать, должна ждать, пока моя сноха, закончила ???, но разве я жалуюсь? Нет, я терпелива, и ты тоже (должен быть???)». Шейна (разрывает???) кусок бедра и (отрывает???) его, объясняя: «Рего ждёт своего ужина». Мруки приближается ??? к туше, но вынужден отступить из-за когтей Вейны. «Как мило», дразнит его Вейна, младшая сестра Шейны. «??? Ты (не???) из королевской (крови???). Так что жди своей очереди». Дочь Шейны, ???, того же возраста, что (Мруки???), подливает масла в огонь: «Серьёзно, Мруки, тебе пора бы уже знать своё место. Ты сирота. Так что ты последний из своей линии. Будешь есть после меня!». Мруки обходит ???, поджидая, и когда он проходит под веткой, где сидит Скоби, тот скрежещет: «Будь терпеливым!» ??? это тоже ??? и Мруки прыгает к грифу, ломая сухую ветку. Скоби слетает, ??? (клянётся???) «Тогда я буду терпелив. ??? тогда…»

3. Скоби пролетает мимо Шейны, возвращающейся домой с бедром гну. Она идёт к копдже — каменистым холмам из песчаника — которые служат царским двором прайду Бронда. Здесь наш герой, Рего — сын Бронда и Шейны, наследник трона — проводит время, играясь с напуганной, но ??? грызуном, не давая тому убежать в норку. Они достойные соперники и игра проходит захватывающе, пока Шейна, ???. Он отпускает хвост кенгурового прыгуна, и тот убегает. «Сколько раз можно повторять — не играй с едой. Это жестоко и ???»

1. Pre-credit sequence. An animated map of Africa. As the camera spirals down over the dunes of the Sahara and the jungles of the Congo, the deep, creepy voice of Skobi explains that the Dark Continent is made of many kingdoms, not only the deserts and jungles but the broad veldts ruled by the king of beasts. Here—we see the Kalahari now as Skobi, the vulture, circles high above it — it is the lion who writes the laws which all the other beasts obey. As Skobi states these three laws, they are illustrated by the action he surveys far below. (1) Be alert: a wildebeest lifts its head and sniffs the air, takes alarm and breaks into a run. (2) Be fast: one wildebeest falls behind the galloping herd and a pride of lions hunt it down. From Skobi’s spiraling viewpoint we can appreciate the lions (???), and though we do not see the moment of the kill, (at the first???) immediate aftermath, as king Brond stands above the mist, (watching???). And (3) Be Patient. Skobi settles on the bough of a dead tree and waits for the lions to eat their fill.

Act one: The Heir Apparent

2. The lions must also observe Skobi’s third law, for strict rules of precedence govern the order in which they dine—much to the annoyance of the young male, Mruki, who is snarling with impatience while Brond enjoys the choicest portions of the kill. Lisaba, the aged ???-Mother, reproaches him in a lofty tone. «Be patient, Mruki. You know the laws of precedence. The king dines first—and now it is Sheena’s turn, as his first wife and as the mother of the heir apparent. Even I, the ???-Mother, must wait till my daughter-in-law has had ???, but do I complain? No, I am patient, and you must (be too???)» Sheena (tears??) off a haunch and (tears???) it off, explaining, «Rego is waiting for his dinner.» Mruki advances (??) the carcass but is turned back by a slash of Weena’s claws. «You’re cute.» Weena, Sheena a younger sister, teases Mruki, «??? You’re (not???) of the (blood??) royal. So just wait your turn.» Sheena’s daughter, ???, she is the same age as ???; rubs it in. «Really, Mruki, you should know your place by now. You’re an orphan. So you’re last in line. After me!» Mruki circles the ???, biding his time, and when he passes beneath the tree where Skobi is perched, Skobi croaks, «Be patient!» ??? one too ???, and Mruki lunges for the buzzard, snapping the limb of the tree. As Skobi flaps off, ??? (vows???) «I’ll be patient. ??? then—»

3. Skobi’s flight takes him past Sheena, on her way home with the haunch of wildebeest, and on to the kopje- a complex sandstone outcropping- that is the royal palace of King Brond’s pride. Here our hero, Rego, son of Brond and Sheena and the Heir-Apparent, is passing the time by playing a game of cat and mouse with a frightened but (unreadable) rat, whom he prevents from reaching her burrow. They are well-matched and the game is lively, until Sheena, (mostly unreadable) He lets go of the kangaroo rat’s tail and it scurries away. "How many times must I tell you—don’t play with your food. It is cruel and it (unreadable).
